The Human Resources Department at SMH is responsible for, but not limited to:

• Application process, background checks for all employees, ID badges and monitoring the units for badge access.
• Managing and maintaining employees files, to be compliant with Medicare and Medicaid.
• Ensuring all employees receive annual performance reviews and evaluations.
• Maintaining HR policies.
• Marketing and community events.
• Process and file Worker's Compensation claims.
• Student housing through the WV Rural Health Elucidation Program.
• Group Health and Life Insurance enrollments.
• Hospital safety program.

Mentoring Program

The mentorship with NCHS students has been rewarding for the students as they get the experience of seeing departments in action. In my 7 years of helping with the mentor students, I have noticed many coming back to SMH for clinical's for med school, physician's assistant clinical's, lab and radiology clinical's, pharmacy rotations, and many other aspects of hospital work.
