Lab Services

The Laboratory of Summersville Memorial Hospital is part of a healthcare team whose mission is to provide high quality care to our patients in a timely and compassionate manner.

Our commitment is to accurately perform and evaluate laboratory procedures to assist the clinician in diagnosis and treatment.

Our goal is to provide clinical support through utilization of state of the art technology and skilled, licensed professionals. We are dedicated to accomplish this goal in a cost effective manner, while continuously measuring improvements in outcomes and customer satisfaction to better serve the community and our patient population.

The Laboratory is inspected and certified by the Federal Clinical Laboratories Improvement Amendment of the Department of Health and Human Services.

Services Provided:

• Clinical Chemistry
Analyzing chemical substances present in the blood.
• Coagulation
Monitoring blood clotting time.
• Hematology
Examining abnormal cells and diseases affecting the blood.
• Microbiology
Identifying the bacteria that cause infectious disease.
• Serology (Immunology)
Detection of antibody/antigen that cause disease.
• Transfusion Medicine
Determination of compatibility of Blood products for safe patient Transfusion.
• Urinalysis
Involves chemical and cellular analysis of the urine.

Services are provided 24 hours a day for inpatient and emergency department patients. Outpatient Services are provided Monday - Thursday, 8:00 am - 6:00 pm and Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. Outpatient services are located on the 2nd floor in the Ambulatory Care Center which is located adjacent to the hospital.
