Risk
Management Program
The Summersville Memorial Hospital risk management program has been established to protect patients, visitors, employees, physical assets and financial resources. The risk management program is responsible for minimizing the adverse effects of loss through identification and assessment of actual and potential losses, loss prevention, risk financing, and claims control. The Director of Risk Management directs risk management activities throughout the institution and monitors the effectiveness of the risk management program.
Compliance Program
The Board of Trustees of Summersville Memorial Hospital (the “Hospital”) takes great pride in the Hospital’s long-standing tradition of excellence in the provision of health care services to our communities and values highly its reputation for honesty, integrity, and high ethical standards. The Board reaffirms its commitment to those standards by the adoption of the Hospital’s Compliance Program Plan.
The Board is confident that, by adoption and implementation of an ambitious Compliance Program, the accrual of certain benefits to our communities and to the Hospital can be anticipated. Chief among those benefits are an even more concrete demonstration to our communities of the Hospital’s strong commitment to honest and responsible corporate conduct, achievement of a state of continuous survey preparedness, development of improved methodologies for the identification and resolution of problems and improvement of quality of patient care. Daniel Shelford, RN, BSN was appointed to oversee and implement this program. The Compliance Officer is chosen based on an outstanding commitment to honesty, integrity and high ethical standards, and on knowledge and understanding of the applicable laws and regulations.
