Control
The Outpatient Nursing Department is located in the Ambulatory Care Center of Summersville Memorial Hospital (SMH). Modern furnishing with up-to-date equipment are available to serve our patients. The department is staffed with Registered Nurses that have over 60 years of experiences. With comfortable treatment chairs for short-term patients and a bed for those that need it, the office is ready for any patient need. With easy access and friendly staff waiting to care for their patients, the Summersville Outpatient Nursing Department is the alternative to consider for care. These services are provided with prior insurance approval: IV Therapy, Blood Transfusions, Outpatient Injection, Therapeutic Phlebotomy, and Wound Care/Dressing Changes.
Employee Health (EH) involves the monitoring of all SMH employees to ensure that all necessary new employment lab work (titers for Hepatitis, Mumps, Rubella, and RPR) along with testing for TB and, color vision are completed. Yearly monitoring for exposure to TB (PPD, mask fit test or hood test/review) is done on a monthly basis. During “Flu” season, employees may receive the flu vaccine at no cost to them. Also, EH is responsible for the surveillance of all blood and body fluid exposures that occurs within SMH.
Infection Control (IC) is accountable for providing the most up–to–date information and recommendations for treatment of any infectious disease. IC does daily, weekly and monthly monitors to detect any possible trends that could indicate spread of a communicable disease. Any reportable communicable disease is reported through IC to the appropriate Health Department to ensure proper management.
