Emergency Care Department

Summersville Memorial Hospital has a 10 bed Emergency Department with 24 hour per day care.

All patients that present to Summersville Memorial Hospital for a non-scheduled visit and are seeking care will receive a medial screening exam by an Emergency Department Physician or Mid-Level Practitioner that includes providing all necessary testing and on-call services within the capability of Summersville Memorial Hospital to reach a diagnosis. Support services including but not limited to clinical laboratory studies and x-rays will be provided to the patient in a timely manner. An on-call list of specialty physicians is maintained to assist in stabilizing patients. All necessary definitive treatment will be given to the patient within the hospital’s capabilities.

Emergency Department patients are evaluated for response to treatment and are admitted, transferred for further treatment not provided by the Hospital or discharged with follow-up instructions as appropriate.

The Emergency Department is staff with a professional team of Physicians, Mid-levels and Registered Nurses. Staff members are certified in ACLS, BTLS, PAL, & TNCC.
